After months of debating with myself I've decided to start selling some things on ebay and etsy.

This is the beginning of a desire to manufactor ( on a small scale ). Children's clothes.

Selling on-line and at Trade shows.

The process is time consuming to say the least.

Setting up fabric vendors.

Set up accounts with ebay and etsy.

Started selecting patterns.

To Do:

SEW

Set up a wed-site.

I know in my heart that this is what I want to do.

I've debating seriousely on doing children's clothes. The plan is to have a on-line store and do trade shows.
With no children at home this could be a good thing or bad. I love to sew and have always enjoyed sewing for children.
The plan is to do casual with alittle bit of twist. Right now I'm trying to find vendors that don't what me to buy thousands of yardage and stlyes that I can use.
It would be more on the modest level than what is in the stores.
Since my last post my serger died and I had to have it fixed but I also purchased a new one.
Been in contact with a lady that shut her shop down in 1998 about the ins and outs of such a business. Planning on a set down with her.
I'll try to keep you posted.

WHERE"S SPRING?

I'm so ready for spring!

I purged my closet again Monday and tossed alot of things. Idid that last fall and now I have to sew spring and summer fashions. All I could see was Black and Brown alittle Navy. Sicken I tell you, just sicken.

Yesterday I went to my stash and pulled out some knit and made this.

I know the skirt has black in it but the top don't. The top is V8305 that I omitted the zipper in. I really like and will do it again. But not in that fabric. That knit was like butter. But its nice when your finished.

I can not find anything I like in RTW or Fabric. Am I being pickie? Yes.

But I want color do you here me? COLOR.

Maybe its a age thing. Who knows.

Today:

I'm washing a piece of fabric now. But I'm going to be working on the smocked daygown that I took a class on. If you add in the cost of the class my gas to the class and my time this thing is a investment. I hope that child don't spit up on it.

It is only3 weeks before my trip to the Mountain Quilt Fest.

A First

Not much garment sewing going around here.

Idid do my first purse! I'm so proud of myself. Idid have to make a few adjustments since I didn't pay close attention to the instructions.

Being a garment sewer and quilter for years I think Idid real good.

Has anyone seen any pretty spring fabric?

I'm bored with my closet but I usually am about this time every year.

So I've started looking for spring fabrics to brighten things up some.

The next piece on my cutting table will be a TNT skirt from a black knit with blue and white circles , The top will be this vogue pattern. View B. It calls for a zipper but I want be putting one in.

Baby Its Cold !

Its been cold here in the south this week. We got alittle ice but not much.

DH has been sick so I've spent some time in the sewing room.

My goals for this year is to make each of my three sons a bed quilt this year

and DH will not be a happy camper if he's left out. Since about 6 years ago I

did him a king size nine patch and hand quilted it. Right after we moved in our

house I lit some candels in the Master Bath and they caught some greenery on

fire. (It was Christmas Eve and this house way out in the country) Igrab this

nearest thing to smother the fire out.You guessed it HIS QUILT. He acted like

he'd rather the house burn down. I've done a lap quilt but not a full bed quilt for

him since.

He came up the stairs to my world the other night and Loved the new log cabin blocks.

May just do that one for him.

I Would Love To Have A Grand-Daughter!

I'm the mother of 3 sons and have 1 grandchild, you guessed it, a boy. Now don't get me wrong I think he hung the moon. But I would love to have a GD to sew for.

That being said. That will explain my latest sewing ideals.

We have in our church a new baby on the way. A GIRL. The mother had a sad childhood so we've kind of stepped in. Their young and have no ideal what this will be.

Anyway I've been in the sewing room, when I been out of the stores.

I've taking onesies and added skirts to them.

I'm looking for other ideals for her.

This could befun.

A NEW YEAR

Havn't posted in awhile. But I've been busy. Finished my red houndstooth jacket. But I don't really like the fabric. Too much wool.
I've been working on a quilt from a left over project and will probally join a quilters guild next week. It seems like everyone I know don't sew, so I'm thinking this might be fun.
Cut out a little dress for a new mother in our church yesterday, with a Laura Ingells hat.
I'll post photos when I finish.

Got my toffee cooling. Martha Washtington in the freezer for easy dipping. Debating on if I want to start the PeanutButter Balls this evening or wait until tomorrow. May make some hard candy this time just not for sure.

The house looks like Christmas and to tell the truth I'm ready for it to get here.

As you can see, I'm running out of room.

I have 2 villages up this year, one country and one is city.

If I ever built another house, which I don't intend to theres 2 things I will have a hugh kitchen, and a bigger sewing room.

When we built this one I thought the Kitchen was fine since we were empty nesters. I forgot how much I cook at this time of the year.

Every year I say no more candy and ever year the week before I'm knee deep in chocolate.

No sewing today. And probally not tomorrow either.

Then its cookie baking time for Sunday School. I have the 4&5 year olds.

Saturdays Christmas around here and I do all the cooking so, it just don't look good for sewing this week.

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Sunday's are always kind of lazy around my house. DH pastor's a church and between services we don't do much.
I am needing some ideals for new projects but I'm sure they will come. Would like to do some quilting but I really want to make queen bed quilts and I don't have a long-arm so they will hav eto be sent out to be quilted.
I look to so many others for my inspiration. I love Carolyn's blog. Its alway alittle disapointing on the days that she doesn't post. I noticed on her post @ sticher's guild that she's not got anything going right now. That want last I'm sure.
Not sure how much sewing I'll do next week. In addition to pastoring a church DH also is a general contractot who is a home builder. Kind of crazy right now to say the least but tomorrow is bill paying day for the company. And when that is finished its CANDY MAKING TIME.
Where does all the time go?
And is this time not suppose to be peaceful? What ever happened to kindness and concern for others. Instead of thinking only of ones self.

Kids come home for Christmas , Saturday 12/22/07. Its always nice to have them all home again.
Only one grandchild with another one that is the same as.
So the whole day will cater to them.

Rambling on Saturday Night

Since I seem to be having trouble posting anywhere but here. This is the Vogue Jacket 8302 that I have been working on. It does not call for a lining and before I thought much about it being wool boucle I had already had most of it finished.
This is my solution, a long sleeve black
T-Shirt. I went looking for on the other day
then a little light came on I have the fabric,
(a whole bolt) and the pattern Kwik Sew 3338 .
Put my self to work and have the pieces ready to sew .
I'm afraid that I've not been so good in the fabric dept. I fell under Fabric Marts spell and placed a order. Then I got to rambling around in the sewing room and realized that I really didn't need any more fabric.
I'm getting a itch to quilt alittle, in fact I did a baby whole cloth guilt this week.
Every year at this time I have the good intention of quilting my three boys (no girls except the Daughter-In Laws) a quilt for the following Christmas.
Time to go look at the new Coldwater Creek Cataloge and see what else I might want to copy.

Little Green Dress

My latest dress from the sewing room.
It is Kwik Sew pattern 3472. And I love it. DH even likes it. It is a green pasley knit.
Easy too sew? YES
Will I do it again? Yes
Started it this morning and it is now finished and ready to wear.
I've got the red houndstooth finished except the hand work and buttons.
Working on a black night shirt and a black t shirt to wear with the houndstooth since it has wook in it it's going to itch.

Finally finished with the christmas shopping. All that is left to do is make the candy. That starts Monday.
I'll try one more time to upload more pictures but today no bodies home.

I wore my outfit today .I really like the way the knit flows and the softness of it.
Currently working on a red/black houndstooth jacket. I may regret using a pattern that does not call for a linning. I'd add one but I'm ready for the facing and the sleeves.
To me the ideal vacation would be to go to NewYork and fabric shop. The only thing we have is Hancocks and they just don't get in alot of new fashion fabric. Resulting in on-line shopping.
That shouldn't be a problem since my stash is alittle outof hand. Or Ithought is was until I saw picture of some other sewer's.
Got my swathes from FM don't think I'll renew. For me the vogue selection is better. Trying to stop buying for all over the place.

IT's Been Awhile

It's been awhile since I posted here. Alot going on. Not much in the sewing room. I did finish KW 3338 and a TNT skirt pattern.

Love it. More casual than fancy but I've got another skirt on the cutting table to do now.

I have got V8302 ready to go but I decided to make a few casual things first.

The Vogue pattern is red/black houndstooth wool boucle. I'm alittle concerned about the wool around the neck line so I use a black crepe for the facing .

Back to this outfit.

I didn't realize how close to camaflouge it is. But it looks really cute on the dress form.

No fabric buying as of late. Need to work on the stash. However according to some of the other's stash that I have seen I need to buy.

DH would not agree.

Been really crazy trying to get ready for the Holidays. Still trying to decide if I make candy this year or not.

We'll see.

It Beginning To Look Alot Like Christmas

Not much sewing going on this week.
Idid try pick color to stip a quilt for DGS. He's into horses and ask for a quilt. I think his daddy might be behind that.
I must confess I LOVE CHRISTMAS. We brought the christmas village down out of the attic this week. And always makes me want more houses. So instead of fabric shopping I've been house hunting.
Did good!
This year I'm wanting the country style houses over my mantel. Cabins,barns e.t.c
And what would that look like without a smokey mountain cabin.
Just trying to justify myself here.
The side cabinet will have the city. And it needs a daycare.
Was going to sew some today in between work, but Ireally needto take a package back to Coldwater Creek. Can't do it Monday got to meet a client.
Cooking tomorrow for the Church Fall Festival .
What ever happened to being bored???

No More Fabric!!!

We moved our youngest son into a new house this week so my sewing has been alittle limited. Idid do a LH knit skirt this morning, and I have grey glen plaid ready to sew.

I took a inventory of my stash and it is getting alittle out of hand.

Just a few pieces that I've picked up recently.

Plans:

Jackets out of the plaid and the houndstooth.

The knits? jury's still out.

Any suggestions on patterns would be great.

No Time

Not much sewing going on around here the last few days.
And I"m having withdrawal.
I am finishing the hand work on the butterick dress. I'll post pictures as soon as I get my camera from the RV. DH has it parked at a lake about 100 miles from here. I'm planning on going there on Thursday. Would plan on sewing some there but they have other plans for me.
We sold our country house and are building a smaller one there that out son will live in for a few years. Just about to the move in stage. If you would have told me 10 years ago that I'd be trying to keep up 2 houses I'd thought you where dreaming. But here we are.
Our son is getting married in May and we're letting them live there until they build their on house.
DH is a Home Builder so I don't get excited about building another house. Hopefully we've built the last one for us.

My sewing plans where to finish a few garments and then do a quilt for our grandson. But I keep finding more things I want to make and I KEEP BUYING more fabric.
I've ordered 2 pieces from Fashion Fabrics and I bought 2 from Hancocks at their last sale.

One piece is a red/black dog tooth. Now to find a pattern to use. I want to make a Jacket.
Got a pretty piece of knit that I'm still debating about.
Oh well, something will jump outatme.

No sewing last week took some much needed time off. We went to the coast to the crusin the coast event. DH LOVED IT. I thought it was O.K. Kind of made me feel my age looking at cars I had either rode in or that we had owened. The weather was good. Got alittle hot at the end of the week.
Biloxi has done alot of rebuilding but its still not to pre-Katrina days. The beaches or open now and you can find a place to eat and sleep.
We took our RV but there is a good many Hotels open.

WORK IN PROGRESS

I'm currently working on this dress. The color is brown floral knit. I think I'm going to work with it alittle.It calls for a zipper but I'm thinking of omitting it. The fabric was .99 a yard so if it don't work it want be a big loss.
Went to Hancocks sale today. And I was bad.
I bought some knit that I've had my eye on for some time. Since they had a special today of one piece for 50% off Ibought it. Also picked up a piece of gray glen plaid.
Then since I was on a roll, I came home and ordered some red/black hounds tooth and a sage green print from Fashion Fabric.
I'll post a picture as soon as DH gets the RV home ( Camera is still in it).

This has got to be the hardest place to get into. I have to reset passwords or set up a new account just to get here.

I finished with the silk tunic except for the hand work. Don't know if I get much sewing done today.Ido intend to cut out the plum plaid skirt tho.

Trying to makeup my mind what pattern to use.

It will either be the loes hiense skirt trio or this butterick.

Been lurking around some fabric sites for a eye catcher but havn't found one yet.

These daysIhave more time on my hands than Ilike.

Since I'm a mortgage loan officer and DH is a HomeBuilder things are alittle slow,to say the least.

We don't have but 5 on theground and not sure if we'll start any more forawhile.

So now I stay in my sewing room alot.

May do some snoop shopping today.

I've been trying to figure out what I was doing here.
Things I'm working on:

A black and red check silk duponi tunic. Trying to copy one @ coldwater creek.

I've been puppie setting so I've not been in the sewing room much this week. Owners will be home today!!!!
Bought a couple of pieces of fabric.
Got to work on DGS quilt.
